Romanian IT departments encourage original, adaptable thinking

PlanetTelecom Telecommunications Engineer Vladimir Birladeanu, a Romanian ex-pat, sees more differences to working in Canada than just the wider spaces and longer travel times to work.

“Here, companies can afford to spend more on their IT needs which means the infrastructure is more developed,” he said. Vladimir also noted that less cash in Romania has led to far more flexibility on the part of IT teams.

CEO Dave Veilleux concurs; he has long commended PlanetTelecom’s Moldovan, Romanian and Kenyan partners for their adaptability. (Watch for upcoming news briefs next month when Dave will be visiting our overseas operations.)

Vladimir has settled happily into Edmonton life for the past two years with his wife and pre-school son. If he could import anything from his homeland it would be foods such as cabbage rolls and European music played more frequently.
